We started our second full day in Koh Phi Phi by climbing up the stairs to the Koh Phi Phi island viewpoint. There are two levels to the viewpoint and we were told it would take 30-40 min to walk up the steps to the top platform. It was a very hot day and the steps are a b*tch when you’re already having trouble breathing because of the heat and humidity. Luckily, the climb was shorter than expected and after 20 min of hardcore sweating we made it to the top! Every drop was worth it though, the view was incredible!

It was remarkable to see the difference of the view nowadays to the one of before the tsunami in 2004 stroke. What used to be pure nature has now become densely populated hotel areas. Nevertheless, the water is crystal clear and turquoise. Nature is just amazing!

In the afternoon we went on a snorkeling trip around Phi Phi. Read more in our next post!

One tip if you want to visit the Koh Phi Phi viewpoint: aim to be there before the afternoon tide sets in. Otherwise you miss the view of the incredible blue water and see mainly sand only on one side.
